ACD Ultimate 9 is fast and the Light EQ is one of the best editing tools I've used. The ability to use a brush to edit only specific parts of an image (rather than the select tool) is really great. Here's my gallery, top 20 images or so all edited in ACD Ultimate 9: www.jerrygerber.com/photography/gallery.htm
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01726600597041168875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-76845537533413707542016-02-16T05:51:34.363-06:002016-02-16T05:51:34.363-06:00All, it seems ACDSee has tweaked Ultimate 9 to imp...All, it seems ACDSee has tweaked Ultimate 9 to improve the layers speed and responsiveness. However, after a while, I came to realize that Lightroom does more involuntary post processing than ACDSee. ACDSee seems to be operating on the theory that the users are smart enough to add contrast and sharpening if they want it!

I would point you to my article where I compare ACDSee to the Olympus Viewer 3. The differences in how various software treats unedited photos really stands out in that comparison.

http://glenbarrington.blogspot.com/2015/01/olympus-viewer-3-compared-to-acdsee.html Glen BArringtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14059587483668684991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-45106589268141649572015-11-14T19:18:17.124-06:002015-11-14T19:18:17.124-06:00I have been using ACDS on and off for several year...I have been using ACDS on and off for several years but always went back to LR. I'm now trying ACDS again as Pro 9 supports Fuji. I always shoot raw and find that the ACDS images with no editing look flat compared to LR with no editing. Of course after editing I get pretty close to what I want with both programmes. The big deal for me is that with ACDS I don't have to go through that LR import nonsense. ACDS I find much easier to use so I will probably keep it.ericinozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14354781470935035317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-65064953400316685572015-11-08T12:05:01.205-06:002015-11-08T12:05:01.205-06:00Glen, let me add my thanks for your continuing art...Glen, let me add my thanks for your continuing articles on ACDSee Pro and Ultimate. It's a lot better than what adobe has been pushing. (I have a cc subscription) Most of the time I'm using Photo Ninja as raw convertor, what delivers better conversion than acdsee, but having been playing around with adcsee for only two days isn't a fair comparison.
For the rest, this might well be the replacement for cc I've been searching for. rhermanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07241473109602974403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-80968476953158644572015-10-21T02:13:42.368-05:002015-10-21T02:13:42.368-05:00Well done Glen, very informative ,now upgraded to U...Well done Glen, very informative ,now upgraded to Ultimate 9,its a shame that this software does not get more exposure,I ditched Lightroom for ACDsee many years ago.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17554583672623268580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-8913248147918765362015-10-10T01:32:36.211-05:002015-10-10T01:32:36.211-05:00Thanks so much glen for your responses. It is a user to user forum, that is lightly moderated. Users are free to pretty much say what they want. But even so, everyone there is pretty friendly and willing to help new users. I go there when I have specific problems.

http://forum.acdsee.com/Glen BArringtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14059587483668684991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-47606978050301623462015-10-09T21:24:50.802-05:002015-10-09T21:24:50.802-05:00Andrew, one of the problems with anything not prod...Andrew, one of the problems with anything not produced by Adobe is that there are few, if any online resources for information on those programs. That is one of the reasons why I started this blog, to sort of act as a clearing house for ACDSee related information. however ACDSee has really gotten interested in providing useful user information in the last year or so.

The quick start guide in the help menu of ACCDSee Pro or Ultimate 9 is fairly decent and should get you started at least with the basics.

The ACDSee Tutorials found at: http://tutorials.acdsee.com/ are also pretty good. Some are basic, while a few are more advanced. I personally use Topaz Denoise for problem photos.

I suspect that with the layers mode speed, the problem lies in your display card. This new version really taxes the display card resources when using layers. You might want to go into the Options menu and look at the display card setting to see if the display card parm that ACDSee is using seems appropriate. If that can't relieve the issue, then you will need to talk to ACDSee tech support.Glen BArringtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14059587483668684991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2584666562974702898.post-91960848173904251922015-10-06T05:25:31.385-05:002015-10-06T05:25:31.385-05:00The responsiveness and usability of ACDSee Ultimat...The responsiveness and usability of ACDSee Ultimate 9 is very good.
